We pass through Arkansas without incident. I don't really have much comment for the state as i didn't spend much time there. I could only get a glimpse at it's character through highway bulletin boards and signs, which isn't fair i know...Like "X:Mart, the adult Superstore" "Whole Hog Cafe" and "The Scrapbook Superstore." As i pass by the latter, i'm bummed i didn't look at the exit number, it definitely would have been blog worthy.
We enter Oklahoma, i think this is my first time here but i can't be sure. The Dr. Phil show flew me to several middle states to shoot one day stories and it's all become a blur...
unfortunately, the rest stops have seemed to stop and getting off at random exits to run the dogs again seems fruitless- it's all cornfields. We drive almost an hour more than i wanted to (it's been about 3 hours now since the first hike) I get off an exit that says there is a park ahead...we drive for a few miles, alone...I can't help wondering where everybody is, the homes are abandoned or neglected, shops closed up, lawns overgrown.
We pull into the park on an even more desolate road. I'm not suprised that i am the only one there. The dogs will definitely have free reign here. As i let them out of the car, already frustrated by the 'almost' stops at the prior exits, they flee in sheer drive and delirium, just running as fast as they can away from me. I have to say, i'm not that senstitive, but it made me think, 'is it that bad?'
they run, and run and run...
