lunchtime...

After walking around the main streets hoping to find a fun shop to explore but never finding one, i decided to just give up and eat lunch. For the first time on the trip, the weather had markedly changed. There was a chill in the air and i liked the feeling of it...I sat outside and had mexican of course, authentic mexican as the sign had said and i think it was- sour cream chicken enchilladas which were really good. With a side of guacamole and chips and salsa...i was hungry.
When the waitress came by, i asked her if there was a place I could buy a tennis ball, (as Sid had lost his in the mud pile yesterday) Was there a general store or pet store or sporting goods store i could walk to? She pondered this for a minute as if it was an unusual request. She then pointed me to WalMart, just 10 blocks east towards the highway.
Well of course, that makes sense. No wonder there weren't any mom and pop shops around the square filling this town with vibrancy and vitality- just a lot of empty spaces that should have been filled with the characters who reside here. I hate walmart and would never even consider such a thing. We left Amarillo, satiated but unsatisfied...
