I realized quickly that i really loved Memphis. Beale Street was truly amazing. Band after band was playing as you make your way down the street. Lots of covers...the first i heard being "Mustang Sally" but the renditions were unexpected and well crafted. These weren't your average bands. I loved the energy of this place and the strange mix of older middle agers, bikers and college kids roaming the streets...there was a strong appreciation for music and locals get spoiled here...
I order a beer at one of the outdoor bars and watch a band perfom Johnny Cash covers...makes me think of Joaquin Phoenix. ah, how i love that man...
i wish i had some friends to share Beale Street with but i'm happy to experience it at all...i'll be back...
